Publishing Agreement

Version 1 · September 2026

This agreement is between the author of a submission (“the Author”) and JMAG (ISSN 3136-4470), published by the JAAMIR Foundation, Cumilla, Bangladesh (“JMAG”). Every writer accepts it when submitting a piece for review on jmag.jaamir.com.

1. The work

This agreement covers the piece the Author submits, identified by its title and submission date as recorded by JMAG (“the Work”), including any version edited with the Author’s agreement.

2. The Author’s promises

  1. The Work is the Author’s own original work and has not been published before, in print or online, including on blogs and social media.
  2. The Work does not copy anyone else’s work without credit and does not break anyone’s rights.
  3. The Author has the right to enter this agreement. If the Author is under 18, a parent or guardian agrees to it on their behalf.

3. Rights given to JMAG

  1. If JMAG accepts the Work for publication, the Author gives JMAG and the JAAMIR Foundation the exclusive right to reproduce, publish, distribute and communicate the Work to the public.
  2. These rights cover all formats: the JMAG website and archive, social media, e-books, printed issues, anthologies and books, including editions that carry their own ISSN or ISBN.
  3. The rights are worldwide and last for the full term of copyright in the Work.
  4. The rights do not lapse if JMAG does not use any of them within one year, or within any other period.
  5. If JMAG declines the Work, or the Author withdraws it before it is accepted, no rights are given and the Author is free to send the Work elsewhere.

4. What the Author may and may not do

  1. After acceptance, the Author may not republish the Work, or a substantially similar version, anywhere else, in print or online, without JMAG’s written permission.
  2. The Author may share the JMAG link to the Work with anyone, including on social media, by email and in a CV or portfolio.

5. No payment

No royalty, advance, fee or lump sum is payable to the Author for the Work or for any edition in which it appears. The Author pays no fee to JMAG. Any change to these terms may be made only by written agreement between the Author and JMAG.

6. Credit and editing

  1. JMAG will always name the Author as the creator of the Work.
  2. JMAG may make small edits for clarity, grammar and style. Any larger change will be agreed with the Author first, and JMAG will not change the Work in a way that distorts it or harms the Author’s reputation.

7. Signing electronically

The Author accepts this agreement by ticking the Publishing Agreement box and clicking Submit for Review. This counts as the Author’s signature. JMAG keeps a record of the Author’s name, email address, the title of the Work, the agreement version, and the date, time and internet address of acceptance.

8. Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Bangladesh, including the Copyright Act 2023.
